From an even start, 1 addon and Goodsell raced neck and neck two hundred yards, where Goodsell had a slight advantage. Both were doing last time. Goodsell held the champion to the quarter-mile, where Goodsell. digging his ri'dit scull deep and failing to recover. capsized. B.V the time lie got back into l.is boat. I’addon bad obtained a long head, and, though Goodsell rowed a plucky stern elms.' he was i" a hopeless case, l’addon did a mile in the record time of live minutes, winning by 111 teen lengths m E minutes 7 seconds. , f Goodsell explains that he thought he was getting into Paildon s' watei, and in keeping clear, lie dipped too deeply and capsized. He has rech.ulengecl l’addou. The challenge has been accepted. Besides his mile acord, Padclon’s time for the full course of three miles is claimed to be a world s record.
