Coates) stated the construction of the bridge would he prosecuted activelv. " ADDITIONAL VOTES. The question of additional public works votos for West laud was gone into by .Mr O'Brien M. 8.. and the Public Works Engineer yesterday, and an additional CHfKI has been recommended for the Minister's approval, bringing the total of tlr- Westland County's cot. * to over £1:1.00. exclusive of the Highways’ vote, which will 1.-o mainly for bridge renewals and ii-eoiistruetion of the Ross and South Roads. The new road votes will include further provision for the Kumara-Kaniten road, the Daugherty. I.a Eontaine. IVt.vrsen, Harvey Creek and Blue Spur bridges. KAKABOTAHI BRIDGE.
The Westland County Clerk imilor-la-il with Mr (I’llrien M.P.. with regard to several matters ami arranged with the Bill-lie Works Engineer regarding amendments to the Kakapotahi bridge plans. The Department recommends rolled xt-'el joists should he iist-il. These are available with the Department. and will la- supplied with some minor ameiiilmeiits alleetiiig increased bracing. IL was also agreed to that the Government stibsiily and vote lor this work should now lie ini-ieased to £i->O. C for C. enabling a good structure to he erected. ROYALTIES’ REPORT. The Huvaltii-s' mission report will probably be debated in Parliament next week and the Prime .Minister made a promise to that ellei-t to Mr O'Brien M.P.
