A deputation from tlie Trades and Labour 'Council Federation waited upon the .Minister for Labour to protest against what the Federntiyon took to he the proposed set, of regulations in regard to the keeping of the accounts, and minutes of the Trades Unions throughout the Dominion. After hearing the deputation, the Minister renliod lie was very pleased to meet the deputation, aitd to hear what it had to say in a letter covering a r irculer sent out by the Labour Department to the Unions, lie pointed out there was no will'd about regulations at till, no word whatever. The Unions were iu-t invited to continent on the attached procedure a.s to keeping accounts and minutes, suggested for adootion by the Unions throughout New Zealand for the protection of their own members. It was a perfectly courteous circular. There was no que-tion of regulations. It was merely intended to furnish suggestions as to the best method of keeping account- and minutes.
Air Parr explained the idea was to have a set of model hooks, so the financial position of Unions could he easy to determine. He spoke of a nimt|,er of cases of defalcations from funds.
