Mr John Crowley. of WoJ Hartlepool who 70 years ago “fired" Stephenson's "Locomotive No 1," which drew the first passenger train in the world, arrived in London last night as the guest of tDo London and North-East-ern Railway Company. To-day he will visit the British Empire Exhibition to see there his old engine, standing beside its giant modern descendant the "Flying Scotsman.” Mr Cowley, who is S2, told a reporter that he had expected to be exhausted bv his long journey, but had found it very comfortable. He was a lad when he was "fireman” on Stephenson's engine, which—Sl years later— was borrowed for shunting work by the firm of contractors by whom Mr Cowley was employed. I
