It is with regret that we announce tin l death of .Mrs Parkhill, widow of tlie late Mr John Parkhill. which took place on Sunday morning about 0 o’clock. Deceased was in her general health till early on last Tuesday morning, when she apparently lell in yetting out of her lied, and though she was aide to get hack to lied she shortly afterwards hecatne unconscious when receiving attention from her son. apparently having suffered concussion of the hrain a> the result of an injury to the hack of her head, from which skr suffered considerable pain before relapsing into unconsciousness. In spite of every possible attention, deceased lay in an unconscious condition lor (ivc> days, not regaining consciousness before she passed quietly away. Ihe circumstances are particularly sad as it is only seven weeks since her husband passed away, with tho result that the only son, Mr Andrew Parkhill, Ims suffered a double bereavement in such a short period, and the married life of the old couple has ended almost tragically by deceased joining her helpmate so quickly in their “long home.” The deceased was a native of Motherwell, Scotland, and was 77 years of age. She came to New Zealand 711 years ago and had resided in Hokitika mo-t of that time, being married here -17 years ago. For many years deceased took a very active interest in the 'Women's Benevolent Society when that excellent institution was carrying on its good work, and she always took a keen interest in the work of the Presbyterian Church, of which she was a staunch member. Deceased leaves a son (Mr Andrew Parkhill), a grandson and other relatives. There is general sympathy expressed for them in their bereavement, especially as it has come so quickly on the previous one.
