LICENSING ACT. Five men charged with being found on licensed premises (Club Hotel) after hours did not appear and were convicted. Three were lined C2 and cost* 7s each and two were ordered to pay costs 7s each.

The police charged J. |,. Fowler, licensee of the Commercial Hotel with selling liquor after hours, on Sunday. Ang. 17th.. and four men with being on licensed premises, alter hours, without lawful excuse. Mr Murdochan reared and pleaded not guilty for all defendants. Constable Randall gave evidence that at 0 p.m. on Sunday. Aug. 17th. he saw lour men in the CommercialHotel with drinks in their hands. They admitted having been caught without excuse.
