IUKTBAM&N AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. CRACKER EXPLOSION. SYDNEY, Aug. HO. A peculiar accident happened to three boys playing with crackers ill a street at Surrey Hills. John Chipchase, aged five, placed a cracker in a hole in Ihe iron lid of a sewer manhole 1 . When it went olf, il was evident that by the explosion, the lid was blown into the air and bit Cbipelinse on the bead, fracturing bis skull. The other two were 1 blown into the air he the force of the l explosion. All were l taken to the hospital in a serious condition. ATTACKS AND ROBBERY. SYDNEY. Aug. HO. Attacks on pedestrians in the streets at night are now spreading lo Sydney. Last night a woman at 11 urstville and a man at lltimo were both hit oil the head, the former with a sandbag and the latter with a bottle, and robbed.
