Amplifying his remarks in the House on the. establishment of a commercial union between the different parts of the Empire, in place of the present independent operations, Mr Massey said: **lt may be looking a long way ahead, hut I believe the time will come, as events are tending that way. My idea is thaL it might tie possible to corae to some commercial arrangement between the different countries of the Empire to put certain articles on the tree list: Mich as foodstuffs and some raw materials. We are much nearer that ideal than we have been in past years.” Whether the commercial union would lie associated with the economic committee proposed at the last Imperial Conference, Mr Massey could not sav, as both’ suggestions required careful consideration. lb* confirmed Mr Bruce’s statement last week that he had been advised the Briti-h Coveriiuiciit proposed io go ahead with the recommendations of the Imperial Conference for the setting up of an Imperial Economic Committee to provide tho effective organisation of primary produce for export and marketing in the United Kingdom.
