CORRESPONDENCE.
BOR OEG H TAI PROV KAI ENTS. (To the Editor). Sir. — I was pleased to see hr your paper last night that the local authorities have decided to go in for tar-seal-ing some i f the roads in the borough. As a ratepayer. I can certainly congratulate them on their venture. I am surprised that something of the sort proposed has not l>een taken up long before. With gravel in ton* on our beach which can he had lor the earring and the gas works able to supply tar s,, cheaply it is a wonder some enterprising person has not taken on the job as asphaltcr and become rich. That is one line of business which should do well in this town, but the local resident* are too easy going and inclined to put tip with inconvenience because they are afraid they might not succeed. 1 can now imagine a huge heap of tarred grav.f in the Gasworks yards which the public can (ntrclm.se at a reasonable price and set. their paths off in a real decent manner: thereby improving their ii»'n property and the appearance <>f their town. Once more, well dime. Borough Councillors. - I am etc.. AY. CARTER. Hokitika 27th.. 1921.
