A telegram from Dallas, 'le.xas, says that on the anti-Kit Klux Klan issue Mrs Miriam Ferguson has !>eeti nominated on the regular Democratic Ticket for the Governorship if Texas. 'lbis is considered tantamount t<> her election, the State of Texas being strongly democratic. in which case she will he the first woman governor ever elected in the Fluted States. Mrs Ferguson terms her triumph us -a blow- to the Klan.” She announced that she would oust all the Klan oflicers from the postiimis they held in the State if she is eleeiett. She slates she has also sought nomination as a vindication of her family's name, her husband having been impeached for improper use of State funds when lie was Governor of Texas seven years ago. He conducted a -peaking campaign on his wife's helmlf.

In Wall Street, a sensation was cau-ed when the New Jersey Court appointed a temporary Receiver for tlie Wilson Company of Meat Packers. The minority stockholders have brought equity proceedings against the concern. alleging that the company has an out-lauding indebtedness of seventyseven million dollars, and. on various oeea-iotts. has been unable to pay tho intere-t oil bonds and dividends on tlie stocks, due to a lack of ready cash. Thomas Wil-on. the Company's President. announced that he will stubbornly oppose the receivership, declaring that, the Company’s assets are 121 million dollars.
The Company’s affairs are actually extremely involved, and financial reorganisation has I-on several times attempted, principally bv the issuance of further capital stock. POLITICIANS UPSET.. OTTAWA.
