The Hood of British gold expected to come to Fnited States is worrying the Treasury officials and giving concern to Britain. The British are under an obligation to pay ninety million dollars this year and the present outlook is it will he paid in gold. Next year about 1(10 million dollars are to l e | aid. I he British can pay in gold or l nited States securities, but as the latter are above par, the natural course is to pay in gold, and the | inspect is that there will ls> such an influx of gold as to he burdensome to I nited States, while draining Europe ol its gold supply.
