R.S.A. ART UNION.
TICKETS IN GENERAL UK GELATION. The R.S.A. Committee met last evening when matters in connection with the Art Union were advanced. Mr Evans presided. The art union is in aid of the building fund, and is to l;e drawn on the evening of Tuesday. .September 30th., at the Soldiers’ Hall. .Mr .1, Rhodes, a returned soldier, lia: boon appointed travelling agent for Hokitika and district, and reports received indicated a good sale already. Further books of tickets for the country districts were circulated and it is expected by tho date cf the drawing that there will l.e a widely distributed sale.
The prizes are line oil-paintings by the well-known artist, -Mr J. J,. AY. Hughes. The paintings are all from local scenes, and include “Green Pastures ami Still Waters’’; “Road near Mount Hercules”. ‘•Afuhinapua Greek” "A view near Hokitika,” anil a decorative panel. The tickets are one shilling eti.’n. done up in hooks of eleven. The prizes will be on view shortly, and .should attract good support in the effort to assist in the worthy oh joe t in hand.
It was reported that Mr T. Txoir. was resigning from the secretaryship of the Club. Nominations were opened. anil Mr It. Moore was nominated for the position. It is proposed also to appoint an assistant or joint secretary. Tt was decided to leave nominations open till Monday, when at a special meeting of the Committee at 7.30 at tho hall, the members will proceed to the election of the secretaries. It was proposed to ask Air Kerr to remain a member of the gene.ral Committee.
