A BIG FIRM. SIC Alt OF MILK FACTORY DESTROYED. INVERCARGILL. Aug. lo The Sugar of Milk Factory at Eilendale, 28 miles north-east of Invercargill. was found to be on fire at 8.30 p.m. It was burnt to the ground. The lire was lirst noticed in the office, and spread with alarming rapidity, and soon demolished the building, which, with the plant, was valued at L’SOJKIO. Much of the plant was recently erected. Foi'iniialely there was no wind, and the dairy factory alongside was i:iidan'.*igcd. Ai Fdendul" the blaze was visible I'm* many miles around, there being quite a rush of farmers to the scene in cars. Only the boilers were saved, the factory being otherwise completely destroyed. The insurances are 'aid to total forty thousand. Then* are no details yet. The Minister did not answer the question, because he bail not been given notice oi it ; but he said that be would do so if the question were placed on the tinier Paper.
