A DOCTOR SUED. AUCKLAND. August Id. At the Supreme Court, before Justice lleidliiau and a jury of twelve. Marjory Ann Lawrence of Hamilton claimed L'2I)QI) damages from Doctor 11. Danila. .Mackenzie for alleged negligent treatment and alleged false and fraudulent representations made for the ji nr pose of inducing her to Undergo such treatment. Plaintiff said the defendant represented himself as a specialist ill the treatment of cancer and chronic diseases. She consulted him in regard to a growth mi her breasts and was informed by defendant that she could be cured by treatment, without an operation. She was under plaintiff's treatment for about eight weeks at the end if 1!>22 and tWo weeks in March 11)2:1. Defendant informed her she bail been cured and that the disease bad been removed from the system. As a consequence she took no sices to obtain other advice till August. P.)2:L Defendant informed her. for the tirs! time in Sept.. IH2.T that she was suffering from cancer. In October. 11*2:1 she obtained independent advice on the growth that it was earncrons, ami il was removed by operation. Defendant denies negligence and iTaiineil that be used all reasonable care and skill. He used what is known as Abraiiis system for diagnosis and treatment of disease.
FIRE ON" STEAMER. AUCKLAND. August |;1. A fire was discovered early this morning in tbo siarboard bunker of the steamer Rio Daro ai Queen's wTiarl. D bad a fairly good bold. The iron deck from the bunker to the en-gine-room was so hot that it buckled slightly. The lire was quickly suppressed by the Fire Brigade.
