The hearing of the application of the Ironmasters Association for a Dominion award in respect to four tranches of the engineering industry was continued before the Arbitration Court to-day. Air Bromley, for tho men. said he hoped to convince the Court that the last award had operated uniustlv against the wTirkors and that the Unions demands were reasonable requests, sound in principle and sound economically. The l nion claimed a forty hours week and Air Bromley dealt with the general question of hours in some detail. An employer whose men are on a forty bout week had told hint that he would not revert to Saturday morning work, even if the men wanted to. The l ltion suggested 2s fid per hour as the minimum rate. High wages were the secret of America's success as a manufacturing country. Bettor wages here would increase efficiency and help the industry to meet outside competition.

Patricia Ludlow, three years old. was pinned under the ear. and was rescued •with difficulty. She sustained a severe scalp wound and was nearly drowned.
