CIVIC FAREWELL. WELLINGTON. July 28,

Alter being entertained at luncheon, the All Blacks were accorded a civic farewell til a large and representative gathering at the Town Hall, the Mayor (Mr Wright) presiding. The wishes were expressed that the team would have a successful tour of Kngland and K ranee.

In the evening, the New Zealand Hughy Union gave an official dinner ami send-off to the. team, who were cheered to the echo.

A. .special meeting of the Executive of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held to consider tt proposal from the Prime Minister, forwarded per medium of the Hon Mr Coates, to increase the number of the Alt Black team. It appeared that tt deputation from Auckland had waited on the Prime Minister and submitted that the team was not the strongest that could he put in the field, anil that the team would he strengthened hy the inclusion ol Wright (Auckland). The Union gave lengthy consideration to the proposal in committee and in o[H'ti meeting. No motion, it is understood, was submitted to the meeting by any member. therefore no action was taken. It was stated that, in view of the system of tryouts, and the fact Unit tiu> team had its future before it, it -was not advisable to make any change or addition.
