[Reuters Telegrams.] EMPIRE WIRELESS. t.H'KSTTOXS IN COMMONS. LONDON, July 23. In the Commons Mr Hartshorn said the proposed stations, generally, were only suitable for deferred traffic. A high power station similar to that being erected at Rugby was still necessary for long distance comniunieation at all hours which the Government regarded as essential for strategic and other reasons. The Governments of India and New Zealand stated that tho station of the new type would not meet their requirements and the Government of India was awaiting replies to iLs invitation front the Indian Company to erect a high powered station in India. Th*' Governments of Australia and South Africa had not reached a final decision, but it is understood they are disposed to allow a trial erection of the beam stations in Australia and South Africa for communication with Britain. His Majesty’s Government had undertaken to provide* corresponding installations in Britain as extensions of the station and usable for the Canadian service. Marconi’* had ngp'cd to co-operate in the question of improved business organisation work of the British stations and this is being considered further by a committee under the chairmanship of Donald, which is expected to report short ly.

Asked if this meant that Australia and .South Africa were abandoning their intention lo erect high |*nver stations, Mr Hartshorn said that appeared to be their general attitude; at least, until they bail given this thing a t rial.
