Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addulglon yards yesterday:— Store sheep.—There was an exceptionally large yarding for this time of the year and included one big lino of North Island ewes which were not sold itt auction. 'I he wethers and hoggets showed little difference, hut ewes, if anything were somewhat easier. Full and failing cross-bred ewes made 27s .'id to 31. s ,'3d. one extra good lot to 10s Id. aped and inferior 28Cs ;id to “tis dd. Very few decent lines were ■ ii(ured <and best three-quarter >ired o"e hoggets made 130 s to 32s 2d, others down to 21s Oil. three-quarter bred "ether lioppets 2:3s to 35s 2d.
Store cattle.—A medium entry, apain mostly of nondcei ipt sorts and potters, which sold at late rates. Practically tvO quotaible lines were offered, hut one line of big Hereford steers from!) Kaikoura were not sold
at auction
Reef.—Anlothcr very large yarding, including consignments from the North Island and West Coast. The quality on the average "as better than for some time and in the fare of large mutton entries, together with a heavy beef entry the market was easier and towards the- end of the sale anything but the best quality was very hard to sell. There was an average drop of 20s per head. Prime steers Cl2 os to £lb. extra to £lB 15s. show £2l. medium £l3 to £l2. others down to £1 lost prime heifers £0 5s to £!), extra lo £l3, medium £l, to £(i, prime cows £5 |s.s to £B. extra to £l2, medium Cl to £5 10s. others to £2 10s.
Fat pips—A small supply of haconers .net with a good demand. There "tvs a larger supply of porkers Hum last week and prices were a little easier. Values wore: Choppers £1 to £7 15s. light haconers £1 to £1 Ins, heavy haconers £5 5s to £<s. extra heavy to £0 (is. a vet age per lb. Sid to !>d; light porkers £2 10s to £2 Ins, heavy £8 to C.'l 15s, average per lb Oil to 'fid. Store pigs —A large entry came forward and values for medium and large stores receded. Wcaners sold tit kite rates and values were: Wcaners 10s to 20s, small stores 22s to 20s, medium ;30s to 80s, large to 17s. No sows in
pip "eio offering. Mutton.—A smaller yarding. buttne quality on the whole was very disappointing. A large number of unlinislied wethers were offering, prohahl'on account of the big prices ruling for good shearing sorts. In our opinion this class of wether (especially the liner wuollcd sorts) would have sold better in the store pens. Several lines of extra good wethers and ewes sold remarkably well, ewes selling better really in comparison than wethers. Prime wethers made 11 s to Ills, a few extra special 5:3s to fiOs Od. medium wvtliers 88s to It’-, others down to :i;3s till, prime ewes .‘3l- (id to 30s, extra to 15s. extra special to 52s tid. medium tills to :ils. lighter 2ds to 20s (id. others down to 21-. We t (insider the ewvs sold mueli bettor oil comparison to-day titan the wether. There "ere not any lambs yarded.
