The Australian Dress Assiocintion correspondent at ‘Stamford Bridge says L'nited State* had a- distinct • advantage in the track events owing to the long time they had to practise together. On the contrary the Empire athletes ran more as individuals than teams. In the four hundred, the Dominioners in this event covered themselves with glory. The race was contested on a circular track. Drawing tho outside position, l'orritt anil Ruddock were first away. The Now Zealander more tlum held his own. C arr and tjchdbo were next, and the Australian running boautilully aroused intense enthusiasm gaining at least a yard on the Olympic champion. The Englishman Nic.holls lost the advantage to Bowman, but tho Empire i • had a chance, hut Abrahams, however, badly mulled, overtaking the baton, and started six yards behind Leconcy. Abrahams was below form and barely reduced the gap. Carr informed the Australian press Association that lie is in better form than at any period of the Olympic visit. His leg is not troublesome, and bo is thoroughly satisfied with his own performances. The Mile relay "as remarkable for Liddell’s tremendous finish from apparently a hopeless position. Ho won by soveral yards start. A noteworthy feature in “the mile medley race was tho defeat of the Olympic champions Liddell and Lo" after having commanding positions. Rorritt distingnislvod himself in this event, pulling up several yards againft Hill t-Viiil others.
