Hon is teld by the crew oi the ketch “Maskee.” Tliev state that while at Cape WiJbcrforce, a native informed a native member of the crow that the Douglas Mawson sank in a big storm, and that the crew and passengers, including two white women, landed, but the men were killed and buried on the beach by the blacks and the women taken captive. It is further stated that two white men later visited the blacks, and after taking a largo sum of money which the blacks bad taken from the stranded people after the killing, they departed, telling the natives not to talk or there would he trouble. Questioned in the House Mr Bruce (Premier'! said if the news were officially confirmed, an expedition would he sent to endeavour the rescue of the white women from their appalling fate.
