MARKET EASIER

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Jl. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stoelc sale at Addttigion yards yesterday:— Store Sheep. A similar sized yarding to last week. Several good lines of wethers and ewes were olfering, hut. the Hoggets were hardly up to the Tore ut .standard of quality. The market was i'll in from the jump, and wethers if anything showed an advanro. Forward I and (i tooth wethers made 3-ls fid to 3S,s !)d. medium til’s fid to tils. Others down to 235; |-lired ev.e hoggets 10 27s 2d. M.s. ditto tils lid to 2fis ft 1. ont ra to 2Hs ltd, i'.m. 1bred rues ills to tils Id. aged ditto hut fair rundiliou 21s to t’.Qs fid. others down to I (is Id. Stole Cattle—A small yarding and again only old rows and non-deseript lots. Xo decent quotable lines of tattle wore yarded. Owing to one or two export buyers not operiiting letters were somewhat easier, flood rows made £1 17s (id to £2 I;1s. otliers down to 20s.
Fat J’igs—A small entry, good demand anti both porkers and baronets showed ti decided improvement. ChopIters £3 to £0 As, liglit haeoners £1 os to £A, heavy ditto £o os to £(i, extra to £(I )2s fid. average per lh. price 8d to 8;d: light porkers Cl’ 10s to £3. heavier to £0 17s. average price !)d to Old.
Store rigs.—A. medium entry and all classes sold readily at recent ruling rates. Weanors made JSs to 235. Small stores 21s to 2!><. medium 32s to •!2s. large to £2 12s fid; sows in pig £3 1 As* to US (is. Eeef—Another very large yarding; about fiOO hetid, including 2 or 3 Xort' Island consignments. The quality generally was good and all good quality well finished stuff, especially good medium weight heifers, showed little difference from last "eek. Hut. generally speaking, the market was slightly easier all round, there being too many really for butchers’ requirements. Mutton —A large entry, and a bigger Proportion of wethers than lately. although on the whole the quality was hardly so good. freezer buyers were not operating as the works were closed and as the yarding "as more than sufficient for butchers miui'ouicuts, the market opened easier and was very spasmodic throughout until the last two races "hen things improved considerably and the sale closed firm at last week’s rates. Crazier* were operating keenly on any good shearing wethers and helped to keep the market firm. Prime "ethers -11 s fid to Ills, extra to 325. few special to ASs, medium 30s fid to 11s. others 3.1 s to 3fis. prime ewes 33s fid to 37s ltd, extra to Ms. others 2(is to 335. lighter do"n to 225. Practically no huuh.s were yarded.
