CHINESE SOCCKR TKAM. WK I.I.ING TON, July lb. The Chinese team arrived at AVelliagton io-day m good health mid spirits. The team represents thecream of Chineses .Soccer players, and all are University students. There was a crowd of over 800 people on tho wharf to meet them, and the team were al-o met by the Chinese Consul. Mr Lu lvwang Heng, the President of tlie Chinese Association, the .President of the Chinese Masonic Society, the ( hiticse Nationalist League, President and the Chairman and members of tlie New Zealand and Wellington Football Associations.

The team were presented with mascots by lieu little Chinese maidens. Mr 11. G. .Mayer (Chairman of the Dominion Council) expressed a cordialwelcome. and Mr A. Dome (Manager of the team) responded. Cheers were exchanged.

In a practice in the afternoon the visitors demonstrated their considerable knowledge of the game. There will he a civic reception tomorrow, and a number of other functions are to lie arranged. The team’s banner is the Chinese Republican flag. They are a fine body of athletes. FIRST MATCH TO-MOHROAY. The Chinese team are playing AA'airarapa at Mastcrton on Thursday and AA’elilngton on Saturday,
