HOKITIKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

MONDAY, JULY 7th. Tho G'nmmiltec met at 7.10 p.m. Present:—Rev J: F. Jack (Chairman), Messrs W. Haseler, 11. Sweney, W. Goodl'ellow, R. Redder, J. Conning, and W. Carter (lion, .secretary.)

The minutes were confirmed and outward rorryepondelice approved. INWARD CORR ESPONDENCE.

From Rector (Mr T. Irvine) reporting the roll number for month was primary 300, secondary 74. and average attendance primary 355.5 and secondary 07.25, a, total of 402.75. The newly appointed caretaker had taken up his duties cm July Ist; sonic flooring at shelter sited required repairing, the fence required inspection and attention, some hat-hooks and other articles were required.—Received. It was resolved to ask the Board to renew the fence.

From teacher, South Spit (Mr Seward) thanking committeo for attention to request for attention to various matters; and asking for instructions; the roll niimlier was 21.5 and the average attendance 10.9.—Received.

From W. H. Shannon offering to install hot water supply at caretaker’s house for £27 10s Gil. and gas installation for £ll 13s (Id, for 7 points.— Received ; to he sent oil to Board. Front C. li. Hose, Greymoutli, offering coal for salor—Received. Tho Visiting Committee (Messrs Redder and Goodfcllow) reported visiting the school and mentioned a number of matters requiring attention, including request of installation ol hot water and gas in the caretaker’s cottage.—Received. Tt was resolved to have the tree stumps in the grounds removed. Tho Chairman and Mr Sweney were appointed visitors for tho ensuing month.

From J. Hutton. Greymimth, granting use of cookery room at school tor meetings of committee. — -Received. From Canterbury Education Board iu reference to incidental fund granted bv Board, promising consideration to oilier requests later.—Received. From Mrs M. Holmes. Sanatorium Home Guild, iu reference to school lists towards home fund.—Received. The accounts were passed for payment as scheduled. The Committee rose at. R. 39 p.m.
