The athletes finally formed up in the bright green centre of the .-Indium, presenting a magnificent picture of youth and fitness against the blue gold of the stadium colour scheme. The American's mighty quota tumultuously welcomed their compatriots. A splendid British contingent was headed hy Cameron pipers, followed by a lievv ol English girl competitors who received a splendid reception. The assemhly was thrilled by the sudden appearance of a flying boat living over the presidential stand, a cinema operator daringly leaning out. Then there was a sudden silence as Mr Dottmergue rose and solemnly proclaimed the games open. CARR TO Rl T N.
