A WOOL REVIEW
SIDNEY, June 28. Jhe Australian wool year which closes on Monday stands without equal in past records. The local selling has been characterised by a singular absence of marked fluctuation in the demand for the staple product. The f|tis*iitilies available for sale in AusOtilin dropped ten per cent, which was responsible lor n decided lift in prices in January and .March. In the past year, about fifteen shillings per head wits obtained for wool, compared with 12s in the previous year. At the Sydney sales this prices ranged from 291 pence to l(U pence, compared with Soil to 33 Jd in 1921-22. Of the wool exported Irnin Sydney, Franee received most. Britain's importations dropped ten per cent, while the imports into continental countries and Japan increased.

An inquiry was held before Magistrate (Tuickshanks regarding a lire at the British Imperial Oil Coy's store. Alter lengthy evidence his Worship said In' thought the lire must he accounted for by the theory of the inspector. namely, that ii was caused by a cigarette butt burning through Smith’s pocket on to the door. There was no negligence on the part of the Company. NIAGARA’S ESCAPE. SYDNEY. June 29. The Niagara nearly went ashore in Darling Harbour, in avoiding a cargo steamer oulward bound.
