Recently a Mr Winter, of Kanieri, wrote to the ‘‘Grey River Argus” quoting Mr Seddoit in the last Westlanjl contest when speaking at Kanieri, following on the lines of Mr Atmorc, M.l’.. in an alleged unfair attack ou * Mr Holland. M.l’.
Mr Scddon has contributed a lengthy and spirited reply to the correspondent. The letter which appeared in the ‘‘Argus’’ this week concludes as follows :
Mr Winter's hope that Mr Atomic in Nelson will meet with a similar fate to mine will not cause Mr At inure much worry, for, despite the number of candidates in that electorate, the good judgment of the Nelson electors will see that, despite the difference between tlie Liberal and Reform Par,
ties, a candidate of Air Winter's will not he returned. Whether my fate at last election was “justly deserved,” is a matter of opinion. Under the circumstances, I accepted the decision of the AVestlnnd electors, and immediately promised that I would again contest the seat when T Imped to merit, as 1 had always previously merited, an absolute majority of the votes recorded. To gloat over a "in wlten Ml AVintcr's representative obtained only a minority win. is poor sportsmanship.
