A BIG STORM.
The weather vesterday was showery hut as tile night Wole on a heavy westerly gale blew. About i* o'clock there was a great st inn in which hail, rain, lightning and thunder took a part with great effect. A slight lull was followed shortly after 10.1.) with another and even heavier outburst. The storm lasted for a quarter ol an hour and was of a very savage nature, the wind and rain sweeping the streets with a ferocity not to lie forgotten. Throughout the night the heavy gal** continued with much lightning and thunder, the experience being a very rough otto. This morning the gale eonrfmicd. There is mi extremely heavy sea running along tin* coast to-day. As a result of the heavy blow the telegraphic eoinimiiiieatii.it along the coast was interrupted until about 1 o'clock this afternoon. |
