At an inquest touching the death of William King, in the Westport Hospital yesterday morning, evidence was given that the deceased had. from a breakaway in the line out ill a junior Toothall maleh at Granitv on the preceding Saturday, received a kick or a knock. He recovered sufficiently to play a little longer, but then left the field. Ho became seriously ill that night and was removed to the Westport Hospital, where he died at !! a.m. on Friday. A verdict was returned that death was due as a result of injuries to tho abdomen. accidentally received in a football match.

The funeral of the late William King, the Granitv footballer who died on Friday as the result of injuries sustained in a match on Saturday week last, took place on Saturday afternoon. A lengthy cortege included the officials of the Roller Rugby t'ninn and footballers from all the clubs in the district. The hoarse was preceded by members of the Rover Club, of which the deceased was a member. An impressive service at tho graveside was conducted by the Rev. Air Xeligan. of Granitv.

He collided with another player. X. -f. Gribbite, aged about 21. a wellknown nmteur hurdler, cilloded with another player while playing for King's Old Boys in their senior Rugby match against Xcwton and sustained a double fracture of the leg.
