Surgeons, for example, often scrub their hands with bichloride of mercury solutions, and put on rubber gloves without bothering to dry tho hands. Bichloride poisoning might he acquired in this wav. Other poisons are sometimes absorlicd through the skin. For instance, a Philadelphia painter spilled a large quantity of wood alcohol over his clothing by accident, and became blind. The doctors say tho wood alcohol went through the skill into 'lie blood and was carried to the optic nerve, and so did the damage.
