-MAO IMS K LATH'D. DAXXKVIRKK, June 10 Some interesting remarks were made at a citizens’ seml-olf last night to Xepia and T’aewai. Ifenare Poanatiga, on behalf of Hie -Maoris, in a spirited speech, as one 010.-ely associated with the Xew Zealand Rugby Union, its a memhor of the Maori Advisory Hoard, said that never before had the natives been treated so liberally. The Xew Zealand selectors, at the instillation of the Xew Zealnd Rugby Union had proceeded to select the best material, whether Pakeha or Maori and the result was that three members of the native race would make the tour. This was it fair percentage, after taking into consideration the Maori population ami the fact that they were diminishing race. It was significant to note that Paewai, Xepia and -Mill came from Hawke’s Hay. and two of them front Dannevirke. Xepia had been idolised as a. full hack, and Pacwai in spite of press critics would make good and prove a first-class five-eighth.
