Trade conditions were considerably more promising than last year. There had been a wonderful increase in imports, mainly in the principal raw materials whereon llritish commerce depended. Kxports also had increased. The coal and steel production in Hritain had now reached pre-war figures.
LLOYD CKOROK’S VI KAYS. LONDON, June ‘2O. Air Lloyd Ceorge made a curious I intervention in a Board of L'ratio debate in tho House, delivering a “three decker” oration, when tho House of Commons was almost empty, though he refused to take part in tho full dress debate yesterday. The keynote of his speech was an appeal fora wide and impartial examination of Britain’s whole trade position. He said an impartial enquiry would mow be more diilieult than it was a year ago, lwforc the matter had been complicated bv political prejudices, hut they should get the facts, and then could draw their own inferences. 'I ho nation was capable of saving itself in emergency, provided that it knew the truth Tho success of the Dawes reparations report would re-establish Herman credit. Therefore, he would like an official enquiry into the free money market. There was a danger tbnt British capital would Ik? used to re-equip eonipetitors, rather than to develop the countries which would he the mirchasors of British goods.
