It is generally reported, says the West port "News." that Communists intend to contest both the Grey and Bidler seats at next election-. Lack ol funds was given as the reason tor not contesting these seats at the previous elections. Mr Hen Davidson's name is freely mentioned in connection with holler seat.
At Preston’s Tea Rooms on Thursday afternoon the ladies of the Hokitika Golf Club entertained Mrs Met askill at afternoon ten. During the afternoon Mrs Macfarlnno, the Captain, on behalf of the members, presented Mrs McC'askill. who is leaving the district, with a golf dull in appreciation of the work she has done during her membership and in a neat speech wished her • mod luck in her new sphere. ’I ho singing of "For She'- a dolly Good Eollow” brought a very plea-ant little gathering to a close.
