TAUM'ARUXUI, Juno 1(5 At u meeting of the Tongariro National Park Board during the week-end it was decided to draw up plans’ and specifications for a hostel at the site known as tho “haunted wliare,” about nine miles from AA’aimarino. RACING PERMIT REFUSED, WELLINGTON, June 1(5 Sir .John Luke, ALP., chairman, reported at a meeting of the winter show committee to-night that Cabinet had refused to grant a racing permit in connection with the show, the Attor-ney-General having ruled that the proposed exchange of a Hunt Club permit for a racing permit was illegal. The Wellington Racing Club had promised the committee a donation of .9500 if a permit was granted, so that the committee would lose that sum. The secretary reported that the SOOO square feet of fioor space had almost all been taken up, and the Hutt Valley section accounting for 186 S square feet, and there was every prospect of the show being a great success.BOY MOTOR- DRIVER. AVAIEOA, .Tune 17. in the Juvenile I'ourt to-day, a small hoy, eleven years of age, was charged with negligently driving a motor vehicle recently without lights, thereby causing injuries to a police constable. The hoy was'severely admonished by tho Magistrate, and his father was ordered to give an undertaking not to allow the boy to drive a ear for five years. The Borough Council was (.-ensured for not having by-laws prohibiting anyone under 10 driving cars.
