Four prominent Christchurch boxers at tlio request of the Canterbury Sports Club, attended a special meeting of the General Committee of that body on Monday evening to explain how certain competitors' tickets now in the committee's possession came to have their dates altered from May A to .lime A. The four men allegedly connected with the affair were each subjected to a rigid cross-examination by members of the committee. Tlio seven year old daughter of Air and Airs \Ym. Howat of Cobdon was Severely burned yesterday morning. She was taken to the Grey River llcsjiital for treatment, her condition being grave. On the eve ol bis departure irom Hokitika to take up the position of Postmaster at Tuatapere, Air AV. .T. Pratt received presentations from the proprietor .Air .J. J. Mclntosh), the stall', and the permanent boarders of the Bed Lion Hotel, where be lias resided continuously during his eight years' stay in this town. Several speakers referred to Mr Pratt s sterling personal ipialities, to his unfailing iact and courtesy and to bis never ending geniality and generosity, and one and all wished that he would find time in the future to re-visit Westland anil renew their acquaintanceship. Mr Pratt in responding feelingly expressed bis regrets at leaving Hokitika, u here lie bad enjoyed so much hospitality and happiness, and he assured his well-wishers that no part of the the Dominion would lie more willingly revisit than Westland, where he bad made so many friends, and where lie bad met with so much true kindness.

Beef ion. The bride, who was given away by her eldest brother. Robert, looked charming in a navy blue braided costume with jazz front, and a black velvet hat trimmed with gold edgings to match. She carried a shower bouquet of white chrysanthemum? and pink heather, made by Mr Stndloy. of Greymouth. She was attended bv Aliss -Myrtle Olsen, of Hokitika, as bridesmaid. The bridesmaid wore a pretty frock of saxe blue velvet, trimmed with grey fur. and a saxe blue bat with si reamers to match.
