Over 28,000 payings were made at the gate of tlie Otago winter show last week, and between 3030 and 4000 ladies’ tickets were issued. The treasurer, Mr C. 11. Campbell, estimates the total attendance at fully 40,(XXL Tlie aggregae takings came to £I3OO 10s Sd. The financial outcome is the best lor years. The one thing impressed upon all who attended is that the society must have more room tor the winter show. Another storey on the building is talked about.

The directors of the big exhibition have received a cablegram front the !!j.,h Commissioner stating that the executive commissioners have hold their first meeting in London and asking for information on various points that are inquired abuut by likely exhibitors, sueli as tlie post of erecting and lighting stands and furnishing them. The reply will lie sent without delay. The executive commissioners are Sir James Allen. Sir Thomas .Mackenzie. Sir Arthur Myers, Captain T. E. Donne, and Air A. Micliic, and others are expected to aeeept the appointment. Mr it. R. Spence, secretary, is advised Diet a large importing house in New Zealand has been cabled to by a New York manufacturing firm requesting that a considerable amount of space be reserved. Another message is from the Consul-General of Denmark who resides in Alelbourno, hut has jurisdiction in New Zealand, stating that he lias forwarded the Exhibition Coinjiany’s documents to his Government and hopes that this action will hear fruit.
