CLERK GETS £7OOO TO GET OUT.

The question of the retirement of Nesbitt, the Town Clerk, which for a considerable time, has been a subject prominently before the City Council, was solved by Nesbitt agreeing to voluntarily resign from the end of the present month on a three months’ notice. Under the terms of settlement Nesbitt will, including the honorarium representing one year’s salary, receive altogether between six and seven thousand sterling. \V. G.
