The directors have decided to advertise immediately for all the necessary machinery required in connexion with the sinking of the shaft. It is estimated that it will take two months to complete the sinking of the shaft, and that practically immediately shareholders may expect gold production. This does not mean, however, that two months lienee gold production may lie expected, as some time must elapse before the necessary machinery readies the claim, and is installed, anil allowance must he made for this.
Replying to a reporter’s question. -Messrs Stratford and Soanes said that the impression they had got from conversations with the mine manager. Mr Nelson, who lias had ronsiderahle experience in all classes of gold-mining all over the world, was that the indications could hardly lie more promising for tlie success of tho company.
On Friday last, 23rd inst., tlie fifth bore, which is, roughly, oOOft to the north of No. 3 bore, was down 0-jl't, at which depth the usual “colours” were got. The present position is that tlie lead has been definitely located for half-a-mile, and there still remains one mile to ho prospected hy moans of y>ores. It is intended to prospect this mile and it is probable that ten boros will ho put down at intervals of eight chains. Tlie work of sinking the Queen of Sheba shaft will go simultaneously with these prospecting operations.
