ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. ; A LARGE VAHDING. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This. Day. Messrs 11. Matson and C'o., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday Store Sheep—A large yarding for this time of year again. Old cues were much in evidence hut were hard to sell. A fair proportion of this entry being passed at auction. Those changing hands did so below loeonl rates. Wethers and lambs on the other hand sold well and can he quoted from at last week's rates. Best Romney cross ewes. s.m. 27s Id to 335: medium cross bred ditto 23s to 2fis fid: others down to lls; best J-lired ewe lambs 25s Id to 275; host J-hred ewe lambs 28 s fid to 325; best aethers 30s to 3ls Id. nieduin 25s to 20s fid others town to 23s 3d. Store Cattle A large yarding, niosty mixed snips. All classes of cows vliioli formed most of tin- yarding sold veil for potting purposes. Very few inos of quotable cattle were yarded, vith the exception of one or two pens of •nung stuff, flood cows 30s to £3. Medium and inferior 15s to 255: yearing steers and heifers 17s to 25. Fat pigs—A medium entry of fat iig.s forward, and tile demand was
good, prices showing an improvement on late- rates. Values were light porker- C2 gs to £2 7s Ctl: heavy £2 las to £3 2s; average prices 7'Jd to Std. i.iglit baronets £3 15s to £1 Ills; heavy £4 15s lo £5 Ills; extra, to CO. Average price 7d to 3d. Choppers £2 10to £7. Stme pigs— A medium entry forward. About four pens of weaners were forward and | rices for them improved. Olliers sold at late rates and values were, v.eaners 10s to 15s, small stores 18s to 21s, medium 2cs to 375. No large stores were offering. Beef—Another large yarding and considering the .several heavy entries of toe previous weeks, the market .showed an easing all round on an average of about 20s per head. North Island. Marlborough and West Coast consignments were included in the entry, which, on the whole, was of hotter quality, hut neve; tireless the sale throughout was “stick,v’’. Frime steers £lO 10s, to CJ-t; extra to £ls; medium £8 15s to £lO ss; others down to £5: prime heifers £5 0s to C 8: extra to £lO 12s fid: others £3 10s to £5. Prime cows £5 to £8 10s; extra £9 2s fid; medium £2 to £-1 15s; others £2 to £2,155.
Alutlon—Another large yarding, "ethers being more in evidence than lately. The quality all round, in muopinion. was generally better. The market opened about similar to last week and showed a little difference throughout, although medium class ewes were hardly as firm. However, the market improved towards the'end and closed firmer than at the opening rates. Freezing buyers were keen, as al>o were outside, and West Coast butchers and graziers competed on any light or unfinished lots. Frime wethors 37s Oil to -14 s. extra to 525. extra 33s fid to 37s fid. others 27s fid to 33. Prime ewes 30s fid to 35s Id; extra to 37s fid. extra special to -15 s, medium 27s fid to 30s: lighter 23s to 2fis; others down to lfis fid.
Lambs.—A comparatively small yarding. quality generally good. There was a good sale throughout, especially for good tvoolled sorts. - The overall price was Hid. and the market was linn.
