Tlie extensive building scheme at the Sea View Mental Hospital, which lias been in bond for some time is now drawing to a dose. The only likely delay at the present is in connection with the plumbing. which of necessity is a very large job. In addition to the main wings now being finished, other buildings arc in hand, while considerable additional work is being planned to complete the comprehensive plan designed. Altogether the building operations are very extensive, and when completed will constitute a very line institution occupying a very fine and healthy site.

The Kiwi Ball in the Soldiers’ Hall last evening Was a huge success. There was ji large attendance present. The ball tvas gaily decorated in the Club’s colours, and the floor was in excellent order. The music supplied by B iie.'tti’s Jus:; Hand was all that could he desired, and the Club are much indebted to this combination following given their services free of charge to the worthy object for which the Ball was held. The floor was in charge of .Mr 0. Walker, assisted by Messrs Kearns and Neilson. During the evening extras were supplied by Misses Macfarhino, Mclntosh, ami Walker. An excellent supper was supplied by the Ladies Committee. During the evening a Waltzing Competition was hold, in which 0 couples competed. and resulted in Mr A. Moore and Miss Burton winning the prizes donated by Mrs D. Dowell. Air 1C McGregor and Mr Harrison, wore the judges of the event. Mr Moore kindly handed his prize (a razor) hack, to he sold in aid of the funds of the injured player. Dancing was kept going merrily till the early hours, the floor being crowded all the while, everyone voting the dance a great success.
