There was a very large gathering at St. Mary’s Club Room last evening when the regular weekly euchre tournament was held. There were about one hundred players in all, and the •scene was a very animated one. Fight names in all were played, and the 'tinners proved to be: —-Mrs box, first: Miss Minto, second: Mr llaussmann lirst; Mr Kilcullen second. After the presentation of prizes, supper was served by the ladies, and a dance, to the excellent music supplied by Messrs Tinwii and Gibbons, followed. Ibe evening was a very enjoyable one.

The Kiwi Football Club are sparing no efforts to make the Grand Ball, which is being held to-morrow night in the Soldiers’ Hall, a huge success. The death of another old pioneer of the district took place last night. Mr ’1 bourns Sinnott, an old resident of Stafford district passing away. A native of Wexford, Ireland, he was 05 years of age, and bad followed mining ami kindred pursuits for many years. Hr was a widower, blit leaves a family of two daughters (Mrs Coaldej of Greymoutli and Miss Sinnott of Wellington) and four sons (Timothy and James ot Greymoutli, Daniel of Tailiape aiid Thomas of Wellington). The funeral takes place to Stallonl cemetery to-morrow afternoon.
