NO WITNESS FOR DEFENCE. CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. In the trotting- case, the remaining evidence dealt chiefly with was the impounding of All Smoke, and the nominating of Wild Moa at Otahuhu without the authority of the owner. No witnesses were called for the defence.
Mr Hanlon addressed the jury on behalf of Capes and Williamson, confining himself chiefly to the veracity of several witnesses and tho non-pro-duct ion by thu Crown of th« stipendiary stewards on duty at Otahuhu in support of its ease.
Mr Thomas was addressing tho jr.ry on behalf of Tucker when his voice gave out, and Court adjourned till 10-mon-ow.
