In the ringing in case the evidence so far as it has gone shows that All Smoke ran second on the first day. hut broke flown on tlie second day. The stake won was withheld on account of it not being reported to the Committee of the Club that the horse had been destroyed. The bird cage steward noticed the hair round the horse's eyes was brown, but lie did not report the matter. The horse was entered in the race hook on both days as a bay gelding, whereas it was black, this being thought to he a printer’s error. Two men. one identified as AYilliamson. took a black horse to the boiling down works to he destroyed and an employee there noticed that the horse, which was not destroyed immediately, was hay underneath. In the ordinary way it had shiny black hair, hut when ruffled bay baits showed distinctly. When the hide was impounded at the tannery the satin* characteristics, it was alleged, '•ore noticed. The case will he continued to-mor-row. The jury wn.s locked up for the night.
