The trouble over the Christchurch Maii't ( lull’s suspension was discussed by the New Zealand Union when the Auckland I'nion forwarded the following clause front a letter received from the local Marist (Tub. "Clause 4.—That the New Zealand Union he asked if in its opinion liio Canterbury Union was justified in suspending without a hearing anti subsequently cancelling the affiliation of the Christchurch Marist Club lor its refusal to apologise for and withdraw letter in dispute." Regarding clause II the chairman Mr S. S. Dean), said that in his opinion there was no necessity for the parent hmlv to alt.er its constitution.
M.r E. Wylie said the Mari-t Club has the right to appeal now. Mr C. Mtillaii.v said that even though they have gone over to League the chairman of the Canterbury Union ought to advise us of their derision. Mr Mallany further declared that the entire club bail thrown in its lot with the opposition code. The Chairman said that any appeal mu-1 come through the Canterbury Union, and if the Marist Club followed that course, the New Zealand Union must hear it.
Dealing with clause 4, Mr Wylie said it was not the function of ihc Union to deliver an opinion on such points except when the matter was raised ollii-iallv.
On an appeal a motion along those lines was carried, together with the following decision: — "That the Canterbury Union and all other unions he asked to supply Ihe names of those players who have gone over to the League Game.’ The Canterbury Union were advised that their rules were in conflict with the New Zealand I nions and wore reouested to bring them into line. The Canterbury Union were asked for a report of the meeting at which the Marist (Tub’s matter was dealt with. It was decided that all unions should he requested to forward copies of the by-laws for record purposes, and that a sub-committee he appointed t-i son that they arc ill order. ALL BLACK SELECTORS.
