MU BRUCE’S VIEWS. MELBOURNE. -May 2. Speaking yesterday. Air Bruce said some people, particularly in Britain seem to think that Australia could stand still and offer advantages to Britain which no other country enjoyed. It ivi's not possible to offer those advantages unless Australia received from Britain some return. Ho felt very much the action which was taken recently. If Australia could not obtain the trade relations she desired with Britain, she would go elsewhere. That would mean the breaking of many tics, and Australia, would never he able to render Britain the service her representatives hoped she would he able to do. when they submitted their proposals. The question was whether Australia could wait any longer, or whether she would have to offer trade concessions to other countries. Australia, could probably complete a trade arrangement with Canada which would ho „f benefit to her. hut this could only bo done hv giving Canada the concessions at present given to Britain.
