VUUTEALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. U.S.A. DISPUTE. MOW YORK. April 30. Tile Tennis Association has announced tlie acceptance c.l Richard's rcsigiiiiliou. The tennis situation is still uncertain owing to the Association’s reluctance to resume the discussion on the amateur ruling. Rumours, consequently, continue to aggravate a sullicienlly disordered situation. The Tennis Association has announced the receipt of Richard’s resignation, hut has withheld comment thereon. Meantime, Rriareliff Lodge, which employs Sarny.cn as its goli professional. has submitted an oiler to engage Tildeii on similar terms. Tildeti, however, expressing a disinclination to espouse the cause of prolessionalism, said: "1 do not favour such a movement. 1 would rather remain in the amateur ranks, despite alluring professional offers, and 1 shall remain an amateur unless professionalism is forced on me.”
It is reported that several other socalled player-writers will shortly withdraw from the amateur competition, and refuse places in tin* Olympic and Davis Cup teams, even if appointed.
