The .-Scout Jamboree, owing to the Bail weather was postponed last week, will be held if fine on Saturday next, '.when it is hoped that a. large crowd wijl assemble.—Advt. .At it lie Magistrate's Court this morning (the reserved judgment of Magistrate Meldrum. in the ease of F. W. (Schroder v. .1. Williams, a claim of £-12 -Is Bd, was referred to by his Worship who found that the order to pay sla-vild have been stamped with a 10s stamp and until this was done it could not he taken as evidence. Tlie Court adjourned consideration till 2 p.m., when .Mr Wells handed in the order, duly stamped ( a fine of £5 also having been paid) to his Worship, who adjourned further judgment until next sitting.

Kirk, Acting Secretary of the Canterbury Education Board, advised the Chamber of Commerce, here to-day that- the Railway Department had notified owing to the congestion resultant from the strike it. would not lie possible to arrange the Westland schools excursion to Canterbury as proposed originally. Tit fact there was going to he a difficulty in arranging trains for the Canterbury country - children. Mr Kirk added there was a good response to the request for billeting, lie remarked that every member of Derry’s Band was so pleased with their late treatment tit Hokitika, that each member had offered to he responsible for the board and lodging of a Hokitika ehibi. Mr Kirk expressed personal regret that tho proposed trip had fallen throweh.
