John Ahlstrom, a secondhand dealer, with a wife and four children, died at the hospiLal this morning from concussion of the brain, caused by falling off >a. 'bicycle. POST AND TELEGRAPH REVENUE WELLINGTON, April 2-1, A return published shows -that postal revenue for the quarter ending March 01st. last totalled £328,52", compared with £'374,721 for die first quarter of last year. For the same periods the Telegraph Department's figures were respectively £301,882 and £276,319. The Post Office Savings Bank business shows for the same period an excess of deposits over withdrawal, amounting to £392,062 compared with an excess of withdrawals over depositof £104,805 in 1923. Money orders paid during the first quarter this year amounted to £1,118.£OS, against £1,081,567 in the first quarter last year. LABOUR MEMBERS IN MOTOR ACCIDENT. ASHBURTON, April 26. A motor accident occurred five miles soui.n of Ashburton to-night. Those in the car were. Air Henry Holland (Leader of the New Zealand Parliamentary Labour Party!, .Mr Peter Fraser (Secretary), and Air T. Brindle. The latter received minor curs and bruises and suffered from shock. A MAD MAORI. WANGANUI, April 26. An exciting incident occurred six miles from Bui!. to-day. A Maori, who is believed to be deranged, had an altercation with Boss, manager of a farm belonging to Robert Russell, of Wanganui. Boss galloped on horseback from the Alaori, who fired three shots with a rille. the third taking affect in the shoulder. Wanganui police were informed that the Alaori had barricaded himself and was firing at passers-by. A number of police, armed, went tc the scene, but on arrival found the man had been arrested. The arresting constable was wearing a military overcoat as was the Alaori, who it is stated, came forward and saluted, and was taken in charge.
