Owing to the w< Mhor the Scout Jamboree which was fixed for Thursday is being postponed till Saturday if the weather permits. Don't fail to come and see the Scouts.

We regret to record the death ol Mrs .Mills, wife of Mr William Aliils. a well-known settler of Humphreys, which took place on Tuesday. Deceased was a native of l’.oss and 53 years of age. She leaves a husband and . a family of four sons and two daughters. The funeral takes place on Thursday morning, and will move trom Humphreys via Aralmrn Valley to Hokitika cemetery.

The Hon. H. L. Michel, M.L.C.. received the following, reply yesterday: - “Thanks for your telegram of 19th. inst. We have been forced into a somewhat difficult position, but we stand fast on what we believe to he right. May l suggest that motor services he organised locally, and with the loyal co-operation of citizens and settlers we will use our best endeavours to keep the business of the country going with as little inconvenience as possible.— W. mi Tuesday morning St. Patrick’s Church, Kurnara, was the scene of a prettv wedding, when Bella, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Pool ol Dillmnnstown, was united in tho bonds of matrimony to .Michael Kochford, of Dillmanstowii. Rev Father Seward performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away hy her father, was neatly attired in a beautiful white crepe de chine dress neatly trimmed with heads, and wore the orthodox wreath and veil, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. She was attended hy her sister, Eleanor, as bridesmaid, who was dressed in pale blue crepe de chine and velvet hat to match, and also carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The bridegroom attended hy Mr Joseph Murphy, ns best man. On leaving the chuirli, the happy couple were greeted v.vtn showers of confetti, and adjourne ? to the residence of the bride’s p-.reiHs where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of. and the usual toasts honoured. Later, the happy couple left nil a short honeymoon to South Westland. They were the recipients of many useful presents, and many hearty congratulations and good wishes.
