Physical Cci.tuhe. Air H. E. Longworth, Chief School Physical Instructor, states that reports leaching him show that there are still teachers who do not consider the subject of physical instruction of sufficient importance to give it that regularity of practice required’ by regulation. He appeals to teachers to give the subject its full due, on account of the great benefit accruing thereby to the children. He further states that competent authorities in every country where it is a part of the educational system confirm the opinion that the child benefits mentally, physically, and spiritually.
The handicaps for Tuesday’s sports on Cass Square were not available for publication in to-day’s issue. In the Alaigstrate’s Court report oil Thursday in two cases where the plaintiff was stated to be Lock and Alums, it should have read J. Lock. Train arrangements in connection with the Hokitika Races on 23rd. April are advertised in this issue. AH trains will be suspended on Anzac Day. The order of masses and services in St. Alarys’ Parish to-morrow (Easter Sunday) is Hokitika 8 a.m. 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mass will he celebrated at Kanieri on Sunday April 27th. at 8.30 a. in. Yesterday says ‘the “Argus” was something of a record for the Otira. Tunnel, both in passengers ~;.ml freight. Apart from 1500 excursionists who came in two trains to Otira from Christchurch, the ordinary ex-
press trains conveyed 570 passengers through, 300 coming westward, and 270 going eastward. The tonnage carried through totalled 31-19, 2112 tons going up, and 1037 tons comrig down. There were no fewer than seven goods trains.
