ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. A FIRM MARKET. (Dy Telegraph Special to Guardian.! CMRLSTCTItJRCif, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:Store Sheep: The smallest yarding for some few weeks and the quality generally was very indifferent and for the most part comprised aged and inferior ewes. There was a fair number of North Islanders yarded, hut were hardly up to the usual standard. The market especially for any good young ewes with condition or forward- lambs and wethers was firmer and practically the whole yard was cleared at auction. Considering the continued spell «»1 dry weather and general quality of the yarding the sale must lie considered a really good one. Best 2 tooth Romney cross and 2 bred ewes 32s to 395; medium ditto 28s to 31s 6d; best half broils to 40s; host 4, 0 and 8 tooth Romney cross and 3-bred ewes 27s Od to 31. s Id; medium ditto 23s to 20s Gel; f.m. ditto, good condition 18s Od to 255; aged ewes down to 11s 8d; best forward wethers 28s to 325; medium 24s to 27s Od, 2-tooth 22s 4d to 265. Best forward 3-bred lambs 21s to 255; medium ]Bs to 20s Od; others down to 9s od. Store Cattle —A large yarding but as usual mostly old cows and non-descript sorts. There were one or two pons of decent young cattle, which sold well and the demand for all classes for graz-

ing was decidedly better. One decent

line of 18-months Herefords mixed sexes made 58s while a small line of 18-mouths specially selected Fresian heifers made £1.2 and 3 year steers £3 Os to £J; yearling ditto 255: yearling heifers 255; 18 months M. 5.1.. £2 18s: 18-montlis solocto/1 hoi Tors to £-4 : oows 15s to *los. Fat pigs—A large entry of porkers came forward and the demand was much easier, prices all round being lower than last week’s sales. Bacouers were slightly easier. Values were, light porkers 45s to 60s; heavy porkers 55s to £3; average price per lb 7d to 8d ; haconer.s, light bacouers £3 10s to £3.17s 6d. heavy bacouers £1 5s to £4 15s; extra heavy bacouers to £5 ss, average price per U> G.'d to G/d.

Store Pigs—A large entry came forward and the demand for all classes except large stores was much easier. Values were: weaners 9s to 12s Gd, small stores 14s to 18s. medium stores to 34s to 35s Gd. large stores 4Gs to £3; sows in pig to £4 os. Beef—Another yen’ large yarding comprising. 430 head, including a consignment from the North Island, hollowing up the recent hig yardings, and the fact that some of the bigger butchers still have outside supplies on hand, the market was easier than last week by about 10s to 15s per head clown. On the top of this, with a few exceptions the quality of the yarding was below the average. Prime steers £ll to £l4 os, extra to £lO, medium £S Ids to £lO 15s; others down to £5 os; prime heifers £7 to £9 ss: extra to £ll ss: others £4 to £6 15s. Prime cows £o os to £8 10s, extra to £l2 10s. Others £2 10s to £5.

Mutton—A simliar sized yarding to last week, ewes again predominating All good wethers and prime ewes sold from par to slightly better, medium ditto showed a little if any difference .while light and inefrior sorts suitable for graziers were firmer. Outside butchers operating also helped to keen the market firm. Prime wethers 35s to 38s; extra to 42s Gd; medium 30s to 34s Gd: others down to 28s 4d; prime ewes 27s to 32s Gd; extra to 34s Sd ; medium 24s to 26s Cd others 18s to 23s Gd. Fat lambs —A very small yarding and with few exceptions the quality is beginning to show signs of the end of the season. Anything good was eagerly competed for and despite the fact that one of the principal buyers was not operating, the market all round in our opinion showed a firmer tendency. The average over all price was lOJcf,
